It’s been all over the news and chances are you’ve had emails from other companies you follow to update your details. But are you ready for the 25 May deadline? Any company that has not updated its privacy policy during the two-year grace period will be in violation of the law and could face fines of as much as 4% of the company’s global revenue or €20m, whichever is higher.
Hair and beauty businesses – including chair renters and freelancers – are affected as you hold personal information such as client’s name, address and phone number, which means they can be identified. And if you think that holding the information on good old-fashion paper means you’re excluded think again. However you have it, GDPR still applies.
