We all know what it’s like, you make New Year resolutions and by March you’ve forgotten them all and fallen back into your old habits. It’s important that you don’t do the same with the plans you made for your business and with more than half of 2018 already behind us, now could be a good time to take a fresh look at those goals you set back in January.
With a lot of team members returning from holiday and maybe feeling slightly deflated, it’s also a good time to ensure that every team member is happy and motivated and ready to continue making a valuable contribution to your salon business.
One-to-one meetings are always a great idea and offers individual team members the chance to talk privately about how they feel they are performing and for you to offer guidance and incentives to help them achieve their personal goals. If you set them targets at the beginning of the year, go through how they have performed so far and give positive feedback where it's due and encouragement and advice where they have fallen short.
And why wait until Christmas (or January in the case of many salons) to hold that team party? Why not treat them to a team day out now to thank them for their efforts so far this year and for the hard work to come! Get the team involved in choosing what you do – you could have a ballot box where they can post suggestions. It may just be they want to go for a meal somewhere and socialise out of the work environment, or maybe they fancy something more adventurous like a day at Go Ape, or even getting involved with a local charity.
Whatever happens, keep up that momentum and keep on going!
